This is good news indeed. Who else is going to cook the inedible slop that passes for Thankgiving dinner and transform it into mostly edible gloop? In Brazil? Tis but you. I'm not sure I'd trust a Brazilian with a turkey. In many ways.

Bah! I mean, I'm happy for you and this will make a visit infinitely more likely to happen but...for selfish reasons I wanted you back in the gay bay. But I think it's the right decision, based on a completely superficial analysis of market conditions. Just call me Greenspan.

UPDATE:

Well then that's okay then.

but you should still make divorce illegal in Brazil, cause that'll get the pundits here talking about it also

You should read the first story in David Rakoff's new book first. He talks about how he became an American precisely because George Bush sucked so bad.

When things are bad isn't the time to hide or run. Stay in Brazil for reasons of Brazil, but don't just Not Live in California. Even if you aren't out on the streets raising hell about the issues you care about all the time, just being there, meeting people at parties, in restaurants, or wherever, and engaging those people in conversation - as you can't even help yourself but to do - you start to be a force for change.
