This is in Mercado Central and those rope-like coils are tobacco of some kind. I’ll write about Mercado Central another time but it is, doubtless, the coolest place in all of BH.

A new friend (even if he is a Paulista), Ricky or Ricardo (I’m sure the spelling on that is dicey….sorry Ricky)

Carmen, another new friend, with beer and cigarettes (old friends).

We actually didn’t even go in this bar. We drank at the gas station next door. Yeah, seriously. Walked into the gas station bought some beers, opened them, drank them and smoked copious cigarettes right in the gas station parking lot. There were many others.

Cigarettes, food, new friends.

  1. Really great friends and cigs, but I’m mostly eyeing your little home office. Very nice.

  2. oh j. i am so happy for you!!!!!!

p.s. is that a PUPPY with the chickens?

  3. j

Yes, dearest PD, puppies, ducks, geese, chickens, pigeons (pigeons!), peacocks. Plus restaurants, bars, fruit stands, tobacco shops, kitchen ware. The whole thing’ll make your head spin.

Good times indeed! Also, I bit it on Market Street today, on the first day I ride into my little office.

  5. Dear god I have to come for new years, if we just sat and drank beer in a gas station I’d be happy. But I’m sure we’d probably also buy some puppies and try to feed them the tobacco rope before making them fight some pigeons.

Steve Blanton used to tell me that Jesus loved me the most, but I think JC loves you the most, J. Seriously, you could do a lot worse. Nice landing. When can I come visit?
